    Simple Timesaver

When you need new socks, get rid of all the old ones and just buy all the same type.  It is much easier to match if all of the white socks match each other and all of your dark socks match each other.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a pet peeve of mine. While I own exceptions to the rule (for various suits and activities) I have 1 type of sock and it does save time. When the sock fairy strikes and steals one, I know that the loss can be made up very quickly with another mate.

      Great advice on time saving.

Seems a little wasteful to me if you’re throwing the socks away. At the very least, donate them to the Goodwill.

@Michael – If you last purchased our socks all at the same time they are likely to wear out around the same time again. So while you could give them away they may be better off for use as rags, packing or something else.

What do you do with your socks when they are worn out?

Funny you bring this up- I just switched to all- black socks for the same reasons.

Good point. For some reason, my socks don’t ever wear out at the same rate. Maybe I bear down too hard on one foot. :) But, yeah, I definitely use them as rags.

I had a roommate once who threw his socks in the garbage and made fun of me for reprimanding him. I actually grabbed the socks from the trash, washed them, and used them for working on the car. :)
