Plaxo Question

By Mark Shead 7 Comments

Has anyone found a good way to sync Plaxo (an online addressbook) with a Blackberry over the air?  Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

One way would be to sync Plaxo with Google Calendar and then set up a sync between Google Calendar and your BB. The only rub here is the Plaxo’s sync with Gmail is infrequent (I can’t remember how long), so it you need up to the minute info, this won’t work for you.

@John – I looked at that, but it looked like it was a one way sync from Google to Plaxo. I’ll check into it again. Thanks for your help.

You are right. I forgot about that limitation. I was playing with Plaxo calendar as a way to get OTA sync between outlook and my BB. Now that Google has provided a decent Outlook sync product, I just use to outlook to Google sync and then the Google to BB sync.

Yes yes yes, but what about the contacts/address book? That’s the big doozy at this point. :)

True, but for me, it’s not an issue. My contact list is not especially volatile. Now, if we want to talk “Big Gaping Hole”, let’s talk about the lack of server-side Google Tasks. Sinking tasks OTA from Outlook to BB via Google would be truly cool.

@John: I just mean that Mark mentioned the address book in the original question; I assumed he was talking specifically about that since Google has calendar covered.

Tasks? Remember the Milk steps in: http://andrewski.net/post/32692664. It works superbly.

I’m using Plaxo so my remote assistant can update my address book without needing to take over my computer. It works pretty well. I can then use MarkSpace to sync my Blackberry. Unfortunately that software is pretty flaky and does’t work OTA.

Maybe I just need to setup a box running windows to sync back and forth using outlook.
