    Password Chart

    By Mark Shead 3 Comments

Password Chart is an interesting method to generate secure passwords. You give it a “master” password which is used to generate a chart that maps single letters to one or more letters.  You then just type in the name of the service you need a password for, and it will turn that into a password. Be sure to checkout our 10 Tips for Creating Secure Passwords.

Password generating web apps are cool. Password generating web apps that save all the passwords entered – Priceless!

Not saying this one does that. (I did not bother reading through the javascript as I’m not going to use it.) Just saying better be safe than sorry.

@Lynoure – Well you can load the page and then disconnect from the internet. Then fill out the info, print the chart if you need it and then close the window before reconnecting to the internet–so there is no way for it to send your password back out. You could probably also download it to run locally.

@Mark: Yes, that’s a good example on how to be careful if one wants to use these things.
