New SnapScan for OS X

Did you know that a single two-second distraction can cost you 15 minutes of your day? When your concentration is interrupted, it takes up to 15 minutes to get your focus back. Our ambient sounds help reduce the amount of noise distractions in your workplace. Take advantage of the current SALE.

It looks like there is a new SnapScan out for OS X. I think the scanner itself is about the same, but the new version includes Acrobat 8.0 instead of 7.0. If you are looking at purchasing the scanner, you may want to make sure you have aren’t getting the older version of the software.

The PC version has had Acrobat 8 since June.

    Link or Source?

And I think you meant ScanSnap.

@Arjun – You are correct. I must have been more tired than I realized. Here is a place offering it with Acrobat 8. Amazon’s product page doesn’t contain as much info as it use to, but the product is only listed as having been available since Sept 2007. So I’m pretty sure it is the new version with Acrobat 8.

My experience with scanners is a bit limited, so I apologize if this question has an obvious answer…

Does anyone know if anything, other than the bundled software, makes the ScanSnap Mac (or PC) specific? I am interested in getting one, but my husband (aka Santa) uses both a PC and Mac. Needless to say, he’d prefer I get something that works on both platforms.

If the respective ScanSnap models are platform specific, does anyone know of a comparable scanner that works on both platforms AND is compatible with DEVONthink Pro?

    Thanks!

Any update on the platform question? I’d like to use it on PC and Mac, as well.

@Alex – As far as I know you only get the software for the platform you purchase. I would guess that the scanner itself is pretty much the same, so you may be able to run it on both platforms if you can find both pieces of software.

Thanks for the quick reply. (Must have ScanSnap ;-) )
