I have found ambient nature sounds work very well to block out distractions. Productivity501 has made four CDs with an hour of natural sounds to help you concentrate. Ocean, Rain, Brook, and Rain on a Lake.

@SC – For the people like me trying to work in a distracting environment, the CD will pay for itself the first day you use it. If you don’t fall into that category then you probably shouldn’t buy it.
