Productivity – What is it?

What is productivity? Productivity is simply the amount of output you get per unit of input. It is a way to compare the cost of something to its benefit.  So if you have an input of 5 and output of 5, your productivity is lower than something with an input of 5 and an output of 10. Productivity is kind of like the miles per gallon on your car. It tells you how far you can go on a given amount of input (gasoline for your car).
