All great and right on the money. Just one minor issue with #9

Check out your car
... Do the tires look like they have enough air?...

If you wait until you can SEE the tires are low on air you have been wasting gas for weeks and are inviting danger. Get a tire gauge, learn to read it (find out by how much it deviates from a calibrated gauge at a good gas station) and use it before you drive off, when the tires are cold. Note or remember the reading and check again before you fill up at the gas station. Just a mile of driving will add a number of PSI to your reading. Add these on top of the rated pressure which is for the cold tires. Within limits, a bit more air is better than a bit less, just not so much that you tread will wear in the middle only. I check tire pressure once a month and only the best of the tires I had did not need air for two months or so.

Great tips, Mark! I particularly like #4. Looking for that next turn, stop, or gas station causes considerably mental strain and stress - which is actually why we get so fatigued on long, unfamiliar trips. Having something where you don't have to actively search eases the mind considerably.
