Actually this still does NOT work in the US for me. I’m pretty sure my situation is nothing unique based on the research I’ve done on Skype.com.

According to Skype this is something to do with US regulations and such, but I’m not sure if that’s true or not.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon as it is an annoyance for people like me that use Skype as a nearly perfect office phone.

Well the caller id isn’t really useful unless you have a valid number for people to call anyway. I just did some testing and they have fixed the issue since I last used it.

You have to enable the functionality in your control panel (online), but I was able to make a call and it worked. The last time I tried was a few months ago. I should have tested it before making this post.

Now if they would let me set it to my 800 number it would be perfect.

yeah, but you have to pay the subscription fee for ‘incoming’ calls. Which I think with a $2.95/month plan cost me about $30 for the year. Well worth it, I thought…but certainly not free.

We’ve never had that problem. Have you contacted Skype?

(I work at a lawfirm with caller ID and I always see our number when my husband calls me.)
