Minimal words is a key for me - whenever I give presentations I aim to make it minimal as possible, just key words for people to remember. That way everything goes a'okay!

Nice points. I think the worst opener is when the speaker says, "I'll start by giving you a bit of background about myself..."and then does a long tour of his or her CV It's better to weave your credentials into the presentation at relevant points.

Good points–one more: I find it useful to start with a benefit–what the audience is going to get out of the presentation. You are on the money man... and avoiding death by powerpoint is essential.
I suggest reversing your background color from white to black. Viewers may find that easier on the eyes. Just a thought.
All the best,

I thought it was an apt description of what many presenters do. If you're just going to read your slides, could you email them to me instead? _I_ can read your slides on my own!

Had a presenter in our class this term who promised “not to do the power point karaoke”. The greatest liability in a corporate environment is when they want the slides to be the take away document. It's worth the time to create a reference document rather than trying to make your slides be something they shouldn't.

Some excellent tips here.
