Getting out of the comfort zone can be tricky because it's...well...comfy. I find also that incremental, or baby, steps start us moving in the right direction and once we get moving and gain experience it's much easier to stop stepping and start leaping. Thanks for the post!

I’m glad you reposted this because it’s a good one. I find myself most reluctant to take on the projects that are completely outside of my skill set. Yet, when I look at my personal history, whenever I have taken on such projects, my effort has always been rewarded. It's good to be reminded, and to remind oneself in the face of challenging opportunities.
I'll also add that anyone with leadership or people management responsibilities can make a monumental difference in other people's lives by remembering to encourage and kindly push your staff in this direction.

Well said, and a good reminder. People are so reluctant to leave their comfort zones that they never give themselves a chance for real growth. During one semester in college, I was able to take all of my classes in just two days (18 credits), and work over 50 hours a week. The classes were set up consecutively, with only a 15 minute break in between. It was a tough stretch with 5 classes straight, with a job right after, but I survived. Not only did I achieve my goals of making more money and learning, it taught me how to thrive under pressure.

I totally agree with your post.
