I was surprised to see that no one listed "trying to change other people's behavior" as a time waster. People certainly spend a lot of time thinking about it, and doing it, and it's rarely effective (in fact, it often achieves exactly the opposite of what's intended).

Dear all,
In my opinion, the biggest way that people wast the time is to work aimless and dont have any plan for further life.
Some people seems so busy with nonsense works even they have very big and more important works.

@meandering - The idea behind not wasting time isn't to avoid relaxing. It is to give yourself the ability to focus when it is time to work, so your work time is as minimal as possible. Once your work is don't you can concentrate on activities you enjoy and that you feel are valuable.

I doubt that most people would really rank television as high on their list of enjoyable valuable activities.

Some interesting ideas, but some activities that are called time-wasting are ways of relaxing or can be high up on the priorities list. For me, for example, long phone calls are value-added activities and it makes me happy when I can allow myself to spend so much time on talking to a friend, communicating at length.

What I would like to the list of time-wasters are all sorts of so/called office politics, backbiting, slagging others off and sabotaging other people's efforts. That got to be the no.1 timewaster.

We mustn't get too obsessed with efficiency, otherwise we become machines ourselves. Chill out a bit, guys!
