I'm a home based freelancer also taking care of my 4 month old son, and this topic really hits home now! I wake up at 3:30 each morning so that I can get an hours of reading and an hour of working before my son wakes up. If I don't start out reading, the day falls apart quickly and is impossible to get back. Grat tips

All my best days certainly start with some reading. Can't imagine a more relaxed and gradual way to start the day.

And in terms of doing important things, a neat trick is to write your 3 most important tasks before you go to bed the previous night. Most of the time it's too easy to procrastinate the next morning so we never even get out priorities properly set. :-)
