I love the idea of drawing a picture. I would never have thought of doing this! What a great time-saver. Thank you.

Man, I have this problem too. I'm a programmer and I find that I'm at least 3x more productive after 1AM, since I am sure that I won't be interrupted.

Your idea about organization is very cool, I'll try it. Great article!

Yeah, avoid context shifting! It does not just take mental/organizational overhead, but the emotional readjustment takes some time, too, and longer than the organization itself. Getting back into the "feel" may not be necessary for programming (I don't know, all I ever did was some applescripts), but for creative works it is essential! If I don't get into it all I reach is a state of confusion that blocks writing. For a severe example of emotional context shifting think of the Good Cop Bad Cop interrogation technique, and avoid that for your work...

Re organization, a small script to close all open stuff and then open all windows and documents for a project proved a good time investment for me. Everything I come back I start at the same workspace and I feel right at home.
