It does not just take mental/organizational overhead, but the emotional readjustment takes some time, too, and longer than the organization itself. Getting back into the &quot;feel&quot; may not be necessary for programming (I don&#039;t know, all I ever did was some applescripts), but for creative works it is essential! If I don&#039;t get into it all I reach is a state of confusion that blocks writing. For a severe example of emotional context shifting think of the Good Cop Bad Cop interrogation technique, and avoid that for your work...
Re organization, a small script to close all open stuff and then open all windows and documents for a project proved a good time investment for me.
